I was proud of my height and my beauty. I met two men, one who was a mechanic and the other who had a car. Both of them wanted to marry me. I decided to accept the proposal of the man who owned a car. Without having an HIV test we got married and I became pregnant and gave birth to a little girl. My baby became ill and died shortly after. I too became ill and went to see the doctor. After having a test, the doctor confirmed that I was HIV+. I was shocked and prayed and thought a lot. I decided to get divorced.

I went back home but my parents died soon after. Life became difficult for me and my younger brother and sisters. No one could help us. I slept outside and had skin infections all over my body. I was alone. My friends deserted me. While walking in the streets one day, I heard people talking about FFP. I went there and they gave me food and medical care. I started living with other women who were HIV+.

Despite my illness, I do have hope. This photography project has really helped me. It has made me more open about myself and I am proud that my photos will be shown abroad.
